From the airport to the ferry

Guadeloupe Maryse Condé airport (formerly Pôle Caraïbes, PTP) is 5 miles from the Bergevin ferry terminal in Pointe-à-Pitre.

Taxi
Regulated flat fare of €25 (2026), 15–25 minutes depending on traffic.
Karulis bus
Lines AE1, AE3, AE4 and AE5 from the airport.
Landing late?
The last ferry leaves in the late afternoon: check its time on the ferry company’s website. If your flight lands too late, plan a night in Pointe-à-Pitre or take the short flight.

The ferry crossing

Passenger ferries don’t carry cars: you cross on foot, and your rental car waits for you on arrival.

A car on arrival

Wherever you stay in Marie-Galante, a car is essential: beaches, distilleries, windmills and villages are spread across the island, and buses and taxis are scarce. Most agencies deliver your car at the Grand-Bourg ferry terminal, and several at Saint-Louis too.

Budget
From €29 a day for an air-conditioned compact at Bleu Location, from €34 for an automatic; expect €25–40 a day elsewhere. Automatics are less common, so book early.
Renting on mainland Guadeloupe?
Cars can’t go on the ferry. Choose a combined rental: drop off at Bergevin, pick up in Grand-Bourg.
On the road
Drive on the right; yield to traffic from the right. Agencies usually require age 21+ and 2 years of driving.
Without a car
Taxis and minibuses are scarce, especially on weekends. Scooters and e-bikes work for short trips.
